Mental Health in European Youth Work

Key Facts

  • EJBM as Lead Partner
  • Key Action 2 – Cooperation Partnerships in Youth (Erasmus+)
  • 2/2023 – 1/2025 (24 months)

With the two-year cooperation partnership »We Care«, we aim to raise awareness of mental health in European youth work.

Quantitative research has provided a current assessment of the challenges in working with young people in non-formal education. Building on this, project partners have developed a handbook with a checklist through a series of professional training sessions, combining various methods to raise young people's awareness of mental health and address specific aspects within the field.

Our Project Goals

Awareness

We want to raise awareness of mental health among youth and social workers and enable them to be more sensitive when dealing with their target group – both in their work (manual) and in the general conditions (checklist).

Manual & Tools

We have created a handbook in collaboration with various experts from all participating countries. It is designed to provide professionals with non-formal methods for actively addressing the topic of mental health with young people. A checklist also offers the opportunity to review and assess the sensitivity of one's own seminars/workshops.

Analysis

We examined the current situation in our organisations with regard to mental health in youth work and used the results to develop recommendations and new, inclusive methods for educational work.
