This short-term ESC team volunteering brings young people from across Europe to the EJBM to actively promote European values, democracy and civic participation within the local community. Volunteers support the preparation and implementation of events such as Europe Day and Weeks, the Democracy Festival and Saxony-Anhalt Day, while also contributing to the daily work of our youth centre.
During the project, participants gain practical experience in non-formal education, workshop facilitation and community engagement. They strengthen their intercultural communication skills, teamwork abilities and sense of responsibility by working in an international group of up to 20 volunteers.
Our approach is strongly based on peer learning and learning by doing. Volunteers take on meaningful tasks, develop their own ideas and reflect regularly on their experiences. Guided by the pedagogical team of the EJBM, they learn to organise educational activities, address diverse target groups and make European topics accessible and engaging for young people.
Volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms with generally four people (towels and sheets are provided) at the European Youth Educational Centre Magdeburg. Since our facilities can also be booked by outside groups, the living arrangements can be subject to change due to bookings by outside groups. The volunteers will be provided with food to prepare meals with the group (unless meals are provided by the organisation) as well as 7€ pocket money per day.

| Week 5–6 | Support of preparation and implementation of workshops about Europe and Democracy, supporting the current tasks at EJBM, preparation for the Saxony-Anhalt Day |

During your stay at the European Youth Education Centre Magdeburg (EJBM), together with up to 20 other young people, you'll support our team in developing and improving campaigning materials – digital and analog – on Europe, the European Union, human rights, and European values and opportunities for young people. Together with other volunteers you will learn from each other and create final products, which will be afterwards used by the EJBM team during future activities. Your own experiences, skills, ideas, and creativity are highly valued – they are an essential contribution to shaping our educational work.
During their stay at the EJBM volunteers will receive some guidance and support from the pedagogical staff as well as our long-term volunteers, i.e. team building upon arrival or reflection elements during their stay. The EJBM team will be there to explain the tasks and responsibilities, as well as available to answer any questions that may arise. Our work and approach rely heavily on the peer-to-peer principle. During their stay, the volunteers are expected to work independently and support each other in executing the assigned tasks. The volunteers will learn from each other, using the opportunities included in the daily program, or during self-organized time (i.e. in the evenings).
| Week 1 | Getting to know each other, teambuilding, schedule and tasks |
| Week 2 | Introduction to social campaigning, exploring the topics and methods |
| Week 3-5 | Developing campaigning materials, supporting EJBM staff with ongoing activities |
| Week 6 | Finalizing and presenting the projects’ results, evaluation |
