From 9 to 11 October 2026, 20 new and experienced members of TEAM EUROPE came together at the European Youth Education Centre Magdeburg (EJBM) to prepare for their activities in European and international youth work. The weekend was not only about discovering new methods, but also about exchanging experiences, learning from one another and growing closer as a team.
Young people learn best from other young people. This idea is at the heart of TEAM EUROPE, which now has around 40 members. That is why we organise training seminars twice a year, giving young people the opportunity to prepare for their future activities and further develop their skills as youth facilitators. Among other things, they organise workshops and project days at schools and support international youth exchanges at the EJBM and abroad.
Bringing Europe to Life
After arriving on Friday afternoon, the weekend began with a welcome session and some initial team-building activities. The EJBM's educational team also introduced themselves and gave participants an insight into the work of the youth education centre.
The group then moved straight into practice: The facilitators explored various methods used during school trips and project days at the EJBM. Through workshops and a Europe-themed rally, they experienced first-hand how European topics can be communicated in an interactive and engaging way. The first day ended with a fun Europe quiz.
New Methods and Perspectives
Saturday focused on preparing participants for the different areas of work within TEAM EUROPE. Among other things, they explored how to advise young people interested in going abroad and tried out a simulation game as a method for school project days. The programme also covered the organisation of international youth exchanges and the educational approaches behind them. In addition, participants discussed the responsibilities and duties of facilitators, as well as the EJBM's child safeguarding policy.
Alongside the educational sessions, spending time together as a team was just as important. Saturday evening was particularly enjoyable, as the facilitators taught each other different dances and energiser activities that can be used during international youth exchanges.
Looking Ahead to Future Activities
On Sunday, participants explored further practical aspects of European youth work. The focus was on dealing with differences of opinion, as well as supporting and documenting projects, for example through social media and reports. To round off the weekend, the facilitators discussed future opportunities to get involved and reflected together on their experiences.
The training seminar gave both new and experienced members the opportunity to expand their knowledge and strengthen their connections as a team. Equipped with new methods and fresh ideas, they are now ready for their upcoming activities.
We would like to thank all participants for making this weekend such a success and look forward to many more projects together with TEAM EUROPE!
