Today we were very happy about the visit of the Minister of Social Affairs, Petra Grimm-Benne, who presented the European Youth Education Centre in Magdeburg with a grant of 52,246 euros.
Also present was MdL and city councillor Dr. Falko Grube, who together with the Minister of Social Affairs was brought up to date on our current projects and discussed with us upcoming challenges and the state of extracurricular and international youth work in our state.
The director of our educational centre, Christan Scharf, was particularly pleased about the recognition of our work and emphasised the importance of the investment in extracurricular youth education in Saxony-Anhalt: "The grant enables us to bring our offers and equipment back up to European standards. We are looking forward to creating more opportunities for exchange, encounters and education and to being able to focus even better on our goal: to make young people in Saxony-Anhalt fit for a modern, international and fast-moving future."
We will spend most of the funding for new furniture, interior equipment, technology and educational material. For example, we soon plan to be able to offer international conferences, workshops and seminars simultaneously in several languages with a "silent conference set". We also want to expand our recreational educational programme significantly.
